Remembering Teri King
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Teri King, a former Ottumwa educator. Her impact on Ottumwa schools was profound, and her loss will be deeply felt throughout our community.

Teri was a person of unwavering kindness and encouragement. She believed in every student’s potential and made a lasting impact on countless educators. A consummate educator, she stood out for her dedication to students who needed extra support. She always ensured they had the resources and guidance to thrive. Her advocacy for English learners and students with disabilities inspired teachers and students to reach new heights.

Beyond her dedication to education, Teri had a unique gift for finding the positive in even the most challenging situations. Working with her meant walking away feeling more supported, hopeful, and determined to make a difference.

I am incredibly thankful that I had the opportunity to work alongside Teri. She not only made me a better educator but also a better person.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her daughter, Taylor (we are so fortunate to have her on our staff), her family, and loved ones. May they find comfort in the wonderful memories and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.

With deepest sympathy,
Michael McGrory
Superintendent
