Panorama Consent Letter
Panorama Survey Letter
Dear Ottumwa Community School District Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already know, building our social-emotional learning skills is an essential goal for our school this year.
We will ask your child to reflect on their mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey they will complete at school.
The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete. The survey content titled Student Competency and Well-Being will ask students to self-reflect on emotional regulation, self-efficacy, self-management, supportive relationships, and social awareness. Students will also be able to provide information about the culture and climate of their building on the survey titled Culture and Climate by answering questions about the school climate, their sense of belonging, the quality of teacher-student relationships, rigorous expectations, and school safety. Our K-2 students do not take the survey themselves; their teacher answers questions reflecting on each student’s behavior and characteristics in emotional regulation, identifying feelings, self-management, and how kids get along.
We ask that all of our students participate in the surveys, as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If students don’t have enough information to answer a question, they can skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor, Panorama Education, to support us in administering these surveys.
If you have any questions about the survey, please don’t hesitate to contact your student's homeroom teacher or building administrator.
Sincerely,
Maria Lantz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
