On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Ottumwa Community School District broke ground at the site of a new state-of-the-art activities facility next to Ottumwa High School, marking a significant milestone in the construction project slated to be completed by early Spring of next year. This construction is part of Phase II of the Ottumwa High School remodel.

“It’s a game-changer, a source of pride, and a symbol of excellence for Ottumwa to have this arena on the Ottumwa High School campus.” stated Superintendent McGrory. “With our tennis courts to the north and our competition gym south, these spaces will give our talented students a cohesive feeling of having their own varsity activities on-site.”

The Ottumwa High School athletic center competition gymnasium will house two full-size basketball courts, three volleyball courts, the Ottumwa High School Hall of Fame, and an apparel store. The complex will be connected to Ottumwa High School via an enclosed walkway across Second Street.
