Ottumwa Tennis Courts Social Event Held
On January 17, a group of Ottumwa school officials, community leaders, athletes, and supporters of the district rallied around the excitement of a new tennis complex in Ottumwa.
Ottumwa Schools, City of Ottumwa, and Friends of Ottumwa’s Parks are collaborating to construct eight new tennis courts. High school students were unable to practice or compete on these courts last spring due to their condition. The courts will be first-class, long-lasting, and provide a quality playing surface for our prep boys and girls tennis teams, youth and adult league players, and tennis enthusiasts. Courts will continue to be open to the public when not used for prep practice and tennis meets.
The Friends of Ottumwa’s Parks group is taking the lead to secure the additional funds to complete project amenities such as restrooms, concessions, bleachers, gazebo, parking, etc. By supporting this project, you are investing in the health, growth, and future success of Ottumwa, Iowa.
If you are interested in contributing, the Friends of Ottumwa’s Parks have information on their website: https://www.friendsofottumwasparks.com/
A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Spring at the site of the tennis courts. You can currently see its progress by visiting ottumwaschools.com/livefeeds.
