Huston Named Interim Head Softball Coach

The Ottumwa High School Activities Office has announced that longtime head coach Frank Huston will return—pending board approval—as Interim Head Softball Coach for the 2025 season. Huston, who retired in 2019, brings a remarkable legacy of 46 seasons at Ottumwa High School, including 28 state tournament appearances, 15 trips to the state semifinals, five state championship game appearances, and two state titles (1976 and 1995).

Coach Huston will step in following the resignation of Mandi Baum, who took over the program in 2020 after his retirement.

"We believe Coach Huston’s leadership and experience will position our program for success in the 2025 season while allowing us to pursue a long-term coaching solution," the Activities Director, Brandon Brooks stated. "We are incredibly grateful for his dedication over the last five decades and excited to see him back on the field."
